Compiled and Illustrated by Tony Kelly
It is almost impossible to talk to someone who does not have a fond memory of an adventure in their life involving a small boat. There is a universal human attraction to water–and to floating on it. Water, like wind, reminds us of the unpredictable and untamable. Floating on the water reminds us that life's most exciting experiences are impermanent: and when grasped, like water itself, run through our fingers and are gone...... Here, with words and pictures, we will rescue a few.
By this time we were going like a bat-out-of-Hell. The forward lean of the mast in
my tired grip and the unbalanced pressure of the big sail were pressing the bow of the Junior so deep in the water it was in momentary danger of
submarining and completely swamping us.
